How to Choose an ASTEP Pathway

ASTEP offers two education pathways for learners pursuing the BRPT’s CPSGT or RPSGT credentials. Choose the pathway that matches your training and clinical experience.

Best for: Learners who are working in a sleep lab or gaining supervised clinical experience (on-the-job training) while completing the online ASTEP modules.

• Fully online and self-paced
• Does not include the 80-hour introductory course or Final Exam
• Requires learners to arrange their own clinical experience

Best for: Learners who need structured classroom instruction and practical training before completing the online modules.

• Begins with an in-person accredited 80-hour introductory course
• Includes an online Final Exam
• Continues with the ASTEP online modules after the learner passes the Final Exam

ASTEP provides education but does not award certification. BRPT determines exam eligibility and awards the CPSGT and RPSGT credentials.
