How to Register for ASTEP: Introduction to Sleep Medicine for Technologists – Clinical Experience Pathway (Online, Self-Paced)

The Clinical Experience Pathway is designed for: 

• Individuals currently working in a sleep lab and receiving hands-on, on-the-job training, or 

• Individuals with no prior experience who have not yet worked in a sleep lab but wish to begin their training online. 

This course is fully online and self-paced, allowing you to complete it within 3 years from your registration date. 

🔹 Steps to Register: 

1. Visit: myastep.aasm.org/Register.aspx 

1. Complete the registration form with your personal information. 

1. Select “Introduction to Sleep Medicine for Technologists” as your course. 

1. Choose “Clinical Experience” when prompted. 

1. After registration, you’ll be able to start the Online Self-Study Modules right away: 

• Module 1 is complimentary (free) 

• Full Module Bundle: $750 for all 25 modules 

• Individual Modules: $30 each 

• ⚠️ If you choose to purchase modules individually, you will not be able to switch to the full bundle later. 

• You have 3 years from the date of registration to complete all modules and review them before sitting for the BRPT exam. 

1. Once all modules are completed, follow BRPT guidelines to prepare for and take the appropriate credentialing exam (e.g., CPSGT or RPSGT).

• ASTEP is an educational program only and does not grant certification to work as a sleep technologist. 

• Always check your state’s licensure requirements before starting the program. 

• If you are interested in the Focused Training Pathway (which includes an in-person, 80-hour introductory course), the registration steps are different.
